IT Security for Executives: Making Informed Security Decisions

Kevin KrögerTraining & Workshops

IT security isn't an IT-only topic — it's a business topic. Security incidents cost German companies €203 billion annually. And decisions about security budgets, strategies, and policies are made by management. Our training gives executives the knowledge to make informed security decisions. Not technical deep dives but strategic understanding.

The threat landscape for mid-sized businesses

Ransomware, phishing, supply chain attacks, insider threats — the threats are real, diverse, and growing. Mid-sized businesses are particularly vulnerable: interesting enough for attackers, often too small for dedicated security teams. We show real attack scenarios from the DACH region — anonymized but authentic. Understanding how attackers operate is the first step to protecting against them.

Security as a business decision

How much should we invest in IT security? Where are our biggest risks? What does an incident cost? These are business questions, not technical ones. We teach: Risk assessment methods, cost-benefit analysis for security measures, cyber insurance, and incident response planning. Enabling management to make informed security investments.

Building a security culture from the top

Technical measures protect 60%. Culture protects the other 40%. Executives who take security seriously signal it to the entire organization. We develop executive-level security awareness: what to consider in emails, the role of management during a security incident, and how to communicate security as a value — not as a cost center.

Conclusion

IT security is a management task. Executives who understand threats and can make decisions secure their organization. The training costs a fraction of a single security incident.
